The distribution of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase gene (acdS)-carrying bacteria in the maize rhizosphere is influenced by soil type, depth, and root hairs. Amplicon sequencing revealed that acdS-carrying bacteria, mostly Actinobacteria and Proteobacteria, are affected by soil type and depth, with Variovorax and Streptomyces dominating in loam and sand, respectively. Root hairs have a minor but notable impact on bacterial community composition, especially in loam.
