Improved hydrological connectivity significantly enhances nutrients and root architecture in wetlands. In a study of Tamarix chinensis in the Yellow River Delta, higher connectivity increased soil organic carbon, organic matter, total nitrogen, and root parameters, including length and volume, in shallow soil (0–10 cm), highlighting the need for both large and small-scale hydrological restoration to support wetland ecosystems.
