A global carbon tax is more effective in reducing agricultural GHG emissions compared to unilateral EU taxes, with a EUR 120 per ton CO2-eq tax cutting emissions by 19%, though it may impact food security. Whereas a reduced global tax of EUR 12 yields a 3.2% reduction, ad an EU-only tax with a border carbon adjustment mechanism results in only a 0.15% global emission reduction.
