Focusing on mineral-associated organic matter (MAOM) for long-term carbon storage is important, but not enough due to diverse formation pathways and environmental variations. Effective soil management should also address particulate organic matter (POM), which can persist long-term and contribute to MAOM. This article proposes a framework for managing both POM and MAOM, considering the complexity and environmental constraints of soils.
