Microorganisms significantly alter soil properties through biochemical and biophysical processes, impacting microbiome assembly and local ecology. This review explores how microbes modify soil physics, hydrology, and chemistry, and discusses how these changes can be leveraged for microbiome management to address soil threats and global change.
