Microbial inoculation can boost soil microbial biomass and stability but may disrupt native microbial communities. A meta-analysis of 335 studies showed inoculants improve biomass, with enhanced effects from fertilizers and native strains. Despite no change in diversity, inoculants altered community structure and network complexity, benefiting from higher soil nutrient levels.
