Bacterial inoculant-assisted phytoremediation affects trace element uptake and metabolite content in Salix atrocinerea

Bacterial inoculant-assisted phytoremediation affects trace element uptake and metabolite content in Salix atrocinerea

This study investigated the role of plant-associated bacteria in enhancing phytoremediation of lead (Pb) and arsenic (As) in grey willow (Salix atrocinerea) on a contaminated brownfield. Pyrosequencing revealed diverse bacterial communities, and promising strains Pantoea sp. AV62 and Rhodococcus erythropolis AV96 increased As and Pb uptake in inoculated plants. The bioaugmentation improved plant growth and stress response, showing potential for enhancing trace element phytoremediation.
