Soil microbial functional diversity can effectively indicate soil health in agriculture. This study, conducted in Mediterranean and semiarid regions of Israel, identified community level physiological profiling (CLPP) as a rapid and useful soil health indicator. Soil moisture showed seasonal variations with microbial biomass and CLPP. CLPP, particularly in autumn, was effective across different climates and land use types, suggesting its potential for broader application in assessing soil health.
